Our Service

There are many opportunities for students, staff and families to get involved with service at CCC. In fact, the Bible makes it clear that we should follow the example of Jesus in serving others. To do this requires an attitude of the heart and a change of thinking which shifts our focus from self to others. Service learning is embedded in our curriculum from Prep to Year 12 but students can also choose to get involved outside the classroom at a local, wider community or overseas level. Recent studies have shown that young people who regularly participate in volunteering/service activities live healthier, more positive lives, with a high degree of social emotional resilience – so service is good for others, but done with the right heart, it is also good for the volunteer.

In 2017, CCC will be introducing a 9 part series of studies on Service Learning which will be conducted in all P-12 classes.

Kids for Kids

Our Primary student fundraising organisation established in 2009, has raised considerable funds to assist children in need after natural disasters, and to support the work of various charities that work with children including Hope Reigns, Jake Garrett foundation, Eagles Wings Orphanages in China, Red Cross and others.

Relay for Life

Over the last few years teachers and students have rallied together to raise funds and walk with the Gympie branch of Relay for Life. Supporting cancer research and care for families and patients, Relay for Life is a significant event on our calendar.

Destiny Rescue

Committed to liberating enslaved children around the world and restoring those who have been abused, Destiny Rescue is a Christian organisation we are proud to support. Each year our students seek sponsorship to “Make a Stand” to help free children and bring hope.

Solomon Islands Ministry

Since 2006 our school has been working in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands, providing resources, teaching and fellowship. Student and staff teams have been involved in many projects including establishing the first Christian radio station in the west, rebuilding our sister school after the 2007 earthquake, and dental hygiene/reading glasses clinics. We are also proud to call Maravari Primary our sister school and enjoy the ongoing mutual benefit that comes from this rich connection.

There are so many simple ways that each of us can seek to serve one another each day. We don’t have to go to a “mission field” or sign up to a fundraising event, we just need to open our eyes to the needs around and reach out our hand. Service is the outward expression of Jesus command, “love one another as I have loved you”.
